How to Get Your Own Domain Name
A step-by-step guide to registering and connecting your custom domain to your Haoyummy restaurant menu.
Go to a Domain Registrar
Visit a domain registrar website. We recommend GoDaddy for beginners, but you can also use Namecheap, Google Domains, or Cloudflare.
Search for Your Domain
Use the search bar to check if your desired domain name is available. Try variations of your restaurant name:
yourrestaurant.comyourrestaurantnyc.comeatyourrestaurant.comyourrestaurant.menu
Tip: If your first choice is taken, try adding your city name or "menu" to make it unique.
Check Availability
The registrar will show you if the domain is available:
If your preferred .com is taken, consider alternatives like .menu, .restaurant, or .co
Add to Cart & Checkout
Once you find an available domain, add it to your cart and proceed to checkout.
Typical Costs:
- • .com domains: $10-15/year
- • .menu domains: $30-40/year
- • .restaurant domains: $30-50/year
Important: Uncheck any add-ons you don't need (like email hosting or website builder). You only need the domain registration.
Complete Payment
Create an account (if you don't have one) and complete the payment. You'll receive a confirmation email with your domain details.
Save your login credentials - you'll need them to configure DNS settings in the next step.
Configure DNS Settings
After purchasing, you need to point your domain to Haoyummy. Go to your registrar's DNS settings and add a CNAME record:
CNAME
@ or www
cname.haoyummy.com
DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, but usually complete within a few hours.
How to find DNS settings on GoDaddy
- Log in to your GoDaddy account
- Go to "My Products" → "Domains"
- Click "DNS" next to your domain
- Scroll to "Records" section
- Click "Add" to create a new CNAME record
Connect to Haoyummy
Once DNS is configured, go to your Haoyummy dashboard to complete the setup:
- Go to Settings → Custom Domain
- Enter your domain name
- Click Save
- Click Verify DNS to confirm the connection
